march plot information

As seen in this post, the Queen is not exactly in the best of shape at the moment. What's going on and what does this mean for the Gardens and its inhabitants?

With the approach of the spring equinox, the Queen is a bit unstable. This is because her power fluctuates with the changing of the seasons. As a result, a bit of her control over the environment of the Gardens has started to weaken.

What this means in the next few days:

Over the course of the next three or four days, environmental changes will begin to take place in the Gardens. Things characters might encounter include:

 — Following the Queen's post, characters will begin to notice that the Vine doesn't always behave as it should. Video may be hazy, staticky, or blurry; audio might suddenly shift in volume or break off unexpectedly; text might randomly disappear or turn into gibberish. At times the Vine may not respond at all, no matter how much coaxing the characters put forth.
 — Characters might begin hearing murmuring, whispering or singing, sometimes nearby and sometimes very distant (incidentally, in the same language the Queen was singing in in her post).
 — Some of the fruit on the trees in the Orchard may randomly transform into strange, multicolored, glowing eggs. They cannot be eaten, nor can they be broken open like normal eggs, but cracking the shell off the outside reveals a transparent, egg-shaped object similar to a snowglobe. Each one contains what looks like a miniature city or world, and each one is different.
 — Paths may at times no longer lead where they used to; a character may try to go somewhere, only to end up somewhere completely different. Eventually, even asking the cats for directions becomes fruitless -- they will only give the characters puzzled looks.
 — Colors shift, becoming darker and more dull, and shadows lengthen and broaden. Even the sun will begin to seem less bright. Indefinable dark shapes flicker in a character's peripheral vision.
 — Perhaps most overt of all, the Ruins in the center of the Gardens slowly begin to take on a more defined shape and form, more obviously resembling a building. A palace? A temple? It's difficult to tell. (More details on this will be in a future OOC post.)

Nothing that occurs is particularly harmful to the characters, but it is creepy, unnerving, and -- in terms of the issues with the Vine and the characters' increasing difficulties finding their way around the Gardens -- isolating.

If you have any questions, feel free to ask! We'll answer as best we can.
