the WOMAN in the WELL

Welcome to October, my dears. It's a strange time, when the days are beautiful but the light is thin. And it's a dangerous time, the world is filling with shadows and who knows what is lurking just out of sight. With the trees in a flame of color, something new has come into sight between their stands, something hidden away in a gloomy corner where spiders have long been left to do their work amongst the birch trees. The well there is pristine, lined with roses and built out of strong white stone like those you will find in the ruins. There are many lakes here, it is not so surprising that this little well is here, only that you have not noticed it before. Beginning on the 14th of October, singing will begin to emanate from this long-lost place, once the sun has gone down. It is a unique song, calling only to you. You will see no one around you who reacts to its enchanting tune, and it is your choice whether or not to search out its source. The voice echoes up from the depths of the well, the woman is unseen, but should you greet her, she will respond in kind. She will entreat you, child, to tell her your troubles. The woman in the well gives you only the most compassionate and sensible advice. She truly does mean you well. But nothing is ever as simple as it seems... The nightmares begin after you speak to her. These visions entreat something very different. They call for you to be petty, bitter, insensible, and cruel. The acts you see yourself performing in these dreams are horrific and incomprehensible, but there is a voice not so different to hers that rationalizes for you, that shreds at your deepest insecurities and vices. No one would blame you for crumbling under such an onslaught. The dreams will last until the 25th of October, and any who have succumbed to their violence will in turn be slaughtered by the woman in the well on this very night. She gave you such good advice... and you betrayed her. She has been betrayed before. She will drag you to her well, and she will rend you, piece from piece. The woman in the well takes a bipedal appearance, almost human except for her decaying skin, the ragged wings protruding from her back, the prominent muscles in her strong legs, her taloned hands, and the beaked mouth from which ridged tentacles protrude. She has no mercy for you now. An NPC post for the woman in the well will go up on the 14th, where she will give characters advice. What happens with the dreams and your character's actions are completely up to you, but please note there is a chance that your character will die during this event if you choose to participate. Participation in this event is not mandatory.

I get how the song is unique to each person but, lets say a character posts on the Vine about hearing a strange song. Would others then admit to hearing it as well?

Do the nightmares have to do only with what they ask for advice about, or can it bring up other things they might not have thought to discuss at the time?

Got a question here.

Urd here is part Goddess, but also part demon. Can this lady in the well tell that, and then work to try and bring out her demonic side that Urd keeps bottled up. It's very powerful, but it's also pretty demonic, and she is pretty evil when it does come out.

Ah... Akiha will end up spending most of the month looking and almost acting like she's inverted. Vermilion hair and all.

But she's used to resisting her horrid urges, so I don't plan on her giving in. But she will defend herself if anyone wants to try to be horrible to her.

Also, I encourage those characters that were around for when Akiha did invert to assume she has this time.

Come, be awful to Akiha. She'll be holding back her own inversion so much, she'd probably be vulnerable to Katina. And don't forget that Ring of Strength Kris gave Katina...

Being the kind, helpful little thing that she is, Eiko is definitely going to seek out the voice, but she likely won't be succumbing to any of the things the dreams suggest.

Holiday is going to seek out the voice, too, and talk to the crazy lady in the well, but she won't go with the dreams. She'll just be crazy and terrified for awhile. That's all.

...yeah, both my girls are gonna be doing this. Though neither is inclined to give in to the urges, and Alessa is probably not going to appear much different. This is business as usual for her! :V

Yuuka doesn't need the advice OR the dreams to have violent urges. If someone wants to tussle, she is more than ecstatic to oblige. (Here are more details if that interests you.)

Subaru will be affected and... might lash out because, depending on the visions I give her, she does have a rare history of giving in to strong emotional urges.

Mugi will be dodging a bullet this round.

Lambda will be seeking out the voice out of curiosity, but I don't plan on her doing anything she shouldn't more likely than not. If anyone wants to come at her, I'm fine with that, but she will of course defend herself!

Nue will probably be acting out violently. She is a !dangerous youkai! who is noted to be pretty old and powerful, actually, so she'll be of some concern. If anyone wants to get tangled up with her, let me know :3

Yumeko will either be sitting out entirely or in the same boat as Lambda.

Probably going to have my characters (Meiling, Samus, Raven) resist, to varying degrees. Raven in particular... Well, see icon to have an idea of what I'm leaning towards.

I think I will have both my characters affected, but Kuja is a lot more trouble than Kariya.

Kariya will probably become distraught due to the dreams. She won't give in, but she will possibly die due to complications with her health. If anyone would like to do something violent to Kariya, let me know. (She will defend herself, which will make her more likely to die.)

Kuja is one of those world destroyers, so her giving in to violent urges is a bad thing. I'm not sure if I want her all the way up to world destroying level, so she'll be good and resist (she so hates being manipulated and listening to others, after all) but if anyone wants to run across her while she's in a mood (or they're in a mood), that would be great!

So I want to have Sette be affected. She's only a kid, so the havoc she can cause is...rather limited, but she's sneaky and carries a knife with her. Also, those nasty teeth.

However, I'd specifically want her to almost give in to the urges. She's only a kid, after all, and her dreams will play on her insecurities surrounding that: that she's gutless, weak, that nobody can take her seriously, and that she's got to prove them wrong.

But while she gets to the cusp of doing something horrible, she finds at the last moment that she really just doesn't have it in her. Which is positive character development taken objectively but will leave her rather distraught.

...so, uh. Anybody want to be almost-victim?

Gavril is someone prone to violence and murder in the first place, pushed a bit she'll likely be letting out some of the violent urges she's been holding in since she got to the garden. Feel free to let me know if you want to pick a fight with her or get in her way~

Taokaka is a good girl and isn't really strong enough to cause any real damage and is quite naive and innocent int the first place so she'll be resisting the best she can.

Shinobu is up in the air. She is a monster by birth but also has almost complete control of all her urges; but if anyone is interested in having her drink their blood I'd be of for that.

Fionna for blood drinking...just because her getting beat up is pretty much an everyday occurrence!

Reimu Will be in full force, making sure none of the Gensokyo Resident's are causing trouble and will put a stop to them if they do.

My other 2 I am still working on. I am thinking of having Kanako become a full on Yandere during this event. Like, School days and When they Cry types of Yandere. Urd I just need some clarification from the mods, but she might awaken her demon side... and if she does she will be quite dangerous to everyone in the gardens...
