First things first, let's get this out of the way: the first How's My Driving? at Queen of Hearts will be happening on Friday, January 28th, and the first activity check will be starting February 1st. We skipped December's activity check because of the holidays and the bumps of getting the game started; because of those same things, you'll be allowed to count any activity in both December and January. From then on, however, activity checks will be monthly.
Now for the main event, or rather, the explanation of the event. For the last week of January--from the 24th through the 31st--we'll be having our own twist on Beauty and the Beast here at Queen of Hearts. Why? That will be revealed as the plot unfolds. What's important is the mechanics of the plot.
Starting on Monday, January 24th, some characters will begin to show monstrous traits. What these traits are exactly is up to you, although they should be something unpleasant and not particularly pretty: twisted horns, scaly skin, clawed feet and hands, huge and disproportionate fangs, a serpent's tail instead of legs, anything like that! With them may or may not come irritability and an urge to brood. Until the week is up, there is only one way for affected characters to return to normal, and that is for them to open their hearts.
What exactly does this entail? Again, the details are up to you. It should mean reaching out with some kind of gesture, be it personal, friendly, or romantic, that they wouldn't normally make. Perhaps your character allows herself to be hugged when normally she would give someone attempting such a thing the cold shoulder. Maybe she kisses someone she was hesitant to kiss before. Or she could make a confession that she would have preferred to keep to herself--or call someone a friend when she's not normally the type to make friends. There are plenty of possibilities.
There's no absolute need to plan out how this plot affects your characters beforehand--you can just roll with things as they come, if you want, and decide whether to affect your character or not later. However, this post will serve as a place to brainstorm ideas for the event if you do want to work it out beforehand. If you want, go ahead and post with ideas, thoughts, or questions for either the mods or other players. Go ahead and comment to other players' threads as well if you're pinged by their ideas or have something to offer.
